Collinsia antonina is an annual herb that is native to California.
California Rare Plant Rank: 1B.2 (rare, threatened, or endangered in CA and elsewhere).
[explorer.natureserve.org] Conservation status: Collinsia antonina is endemic to siliceous shales in Monterey Co., California. It is only known from about 4 extant sites and only about 125 plants are known for sure. Several threats affect this plant including grazing, road maintenance, bulldozing, shale collection, and weed control measures. No sites are currently protected. Up to date surveys are needed for all sites. (link added by Mary Ann Machi)
[calscape.org] General information: Collinsia is a genus of about 20 species of annual flowering plants, consisting of the blue eyed Marys and the Chinese houses. It was traditionally placed in the snapdragon family Scrophulariaceae, but following recent research in molecular genetics, it has now been placed in a much enlarged family Plantaginaceae. The genus is endemic to North America, and is named in honour of Zacchaeus Collins, a Philadelphia botanist of the late eighteenth/early nineteenth century. Of the 20 species, many of them found in California. (link added by Mary Ann Machi)
