[explorer.natureserve.org] Range: Lathyrus splendens occurs in California and Baja California, Mexico. In California, it is known from San Diego county in chaparral between 200 and 1525 meters in elevation (CNPS 2001). In Baja California, Mexico Wiggins (1980) says that L. splendens is abundant although spottily distributed; where it occurs along the western flanks of the Sierras Juarez and the San Pedro Martir.
