[explorer.natureserve.org] Range, Habitat: Cryptantha nevadensis var. nevadensis occurs in the U.S. in California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah (Kartesz 1999). It occurs in counties six southeastern counties in California......(Kartesz 2003 draft). Also found in Baja California (Welsh et al. 1993). In California, it inhabits sandy or gravelly places below 6000 ft in Creosote Bush Scrub to Pinyon-Juniper Woodlands in deserts from Inyo County to Lower California (Munz 1973).
