[Wikipedia] Taxonomy: This species is named after David S. Verity, a horticulturist and entomologist who did work on Dudleya hybrids. David Verity hybridized many inter-subgeneric hybrids, even ones with varying levels of ploidy. (link added by Mary Ann Machi)
